Momentum takes a different approach to board building. We believe research, development
and precision in manufacturing are key in producing the highest levels of performance
and quality in a board. We apply this belief at every level of production. Every
process is thought out and takes into account hydrodynamic design, lightness, flex
and strength.
The Foam.
The chemists at ICE 9 that develop Momentum's foam are constantly working with new
formulas and processes for foam production. Their relentless experimentation means
the core of our boards are constantly evolving. ICE 9 cuts out the guess work and
inconsistency of making foam blanks. Instead of bucket mixing and hand pouring,
the industry standard, ICE 9 has automated all the processes of measuring, mixing
and pouring. The end product is a blank that is consistently light, and uniform
in strength and density . Did we mention also greener? ICE 9's foam uses a sugar-based
blowing agent as opposed to the petrochemical based agents used by the rest of the
industry and their automated manufacturing process eliminates a significant amount
of waste.
Design.
Starting with the best core is just the first step to building a superior board.
Momentum invests a lot of its resources in
hydrodynamic design. All of our boards are designed using 3D modeling software.
This software allows us to test and develop an infinite amount of designs. As we
constantly refine our shapes, the program works in tandem with a CNC machine that
cuts our shapes within a millimeter of accuracy. The end result is a board that
has gone through thorough research and development and is shaped to the highest
level of precision.
