The preservation of the environment is key to the development of our communities and our business. Momentum has always sought to manufacture high quality products while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint. We do so by finding the best materials, both in terms of quality and the well being of our environment.
The Foam.
Momentum has researched and experimented with countless foams looking for the best flexural strength, lightness and durability. The foam we now use meets the criteria we sought but is also more environmentally friendly then the overwhelming majority of foam used by the industry. The chemists that developed the foam used sugar-cane as its base rather than petrochemicals, making it more biodegradable in the long term.
The Resin.
Momentum offers epoxy resin which doesn't have the harmful VOC's found in polyester boards. Although these boards come at a slight premium, they are stronger than conventional boards and tend to be lighter. Momentum is also experimenting with a new epoxy resin developed in the UK that is based on castor oil, an organic biodegradable oil.
Fiber Reinforcement.
Along with our research into sugar-cane and alternative oil-based materials, we've also begun testing new fiber reinforcements. The most promising we've found is bamboo fiber. When made into fabric and laminated with resin, bamboo fiber has identical strength to the higher quality fiberglass cloth.
Momentum seeks to create and promote greener practices within itself as well as its competitors. The goals we've set in our research center and around this ideology makes absolutely no compromises with quality and performance. Our dedication to the environment is the platform on which we've begun to develop the Momentum Foundation.
